I tried these units out of sheer frustration. I've had an on-going gopher problem in my vineyard for the past two years. Tried the gopher bombs, exhaust infusion, traps, owl perches and still continued to lose vine after vine. I placed them and was unimpressed for the first two weeks. I still had new mounds appearing in close proximity to the units. Then the first rains came, possible better contact?, and I have been gopher-free in the areas where the units were placed for two months. There is a clearly demarcated area where fresh gopher mounds are appearing, but they are no where near the units. I tested an area where the gophers were infiltrating in a new part of the vineyard, I placed a unit in front of the leading edge of their progression. It has worked to literally chase them back from where they entered. I have mostly gophers in my vineyard, I have seen a couple of mole mounds in the area, but not in the vineyard. Maybe these units work better with gophers than moles? Regardless, I have been very satisfied with the response and will have more wine to show for it thanks to this product.
